WASH Game Shows

We ran “Blunders, Bloopers and Foul-ups: A WASH Game Show” at the Water Engineering Development Centre Conference in Nakuru, Kenya (this is also where the Nakuru Accord: Failing better in the WASH sector was born), the IRC WASH Systems Symposium in Den Haag, The Netherlands (this one was even mentioned in Chelsea Wald’s book, Pipe Dreams!), and UNC Water and Health in Chapel Hill USA, as well as a shorter version at Stockholm World Water Week. We also facilitated a Twitter/Yammer discussion for the WASH in Schools Network and ran an online, menstrual health themed game show for Menstrual Hygiene Day 2020.

Resources

We spent many hours putting together the resources for the game show and are happy to share them for you to use in your own events, classes, Hen’s nights (not even kidding!), and modify as you see fit. You can even just show the video of the Menstrual Hygiene Day 2020 game and play along. Here are some resources you might find helpful (note that you’ll need to embed the videos into presentations yourselves).

Please do let us know if you use these anywhere, especially if you would like us to publicise your event, and also attribute our work under the Creative Commons terms.

Game show prizes

We do recommend getting creative with “prizes”, so far we have given away “Shit Happens” trophies, medals, plungers, poop hats and golden toilet brushes!

Since you didn’t ask, here’s a photo of Dani playing “Take the Poo to the Loo” at her Hen’s Night (designed and created as a surprise by her baby sister)… there’s probably no need for us to provide resources on how to play this game!
